About the Association
Russian – Latin American Strategic Studies Association (RLASSA) was established in the beginning of September 2017 by the initiative of the International Centre for Social and Political Studies and Consulting (ICSPSC) and the Group on Defense and International Security Studies (GDISS) at the State University of São Paulo. Currently RLASSA includes more than 50 researchers from Russia and seven countries of Latin America and its ranks are growing rapidly.
The main area of joint work of RLASSA members: strategic studies and their application to the practice of relations between Russia and Latin America, including an assessment of threats, risks and prospects for national defense and international security in the context of common interests and possible areas of cooperation.
Among the possible topics of research are also: international conflicts and conflict resolution, peacekeeping missions, the role of new technologies in military build-up, experience of law enforcement agencies, strategic communication as a function of public administration and an important factor in international development, existing and future models of socio-political development, and other topics.
The Association is open for participation not only of specialists from Russia and countries of Latin America, but also of other states because strategic aspects of the development of any nation or region always come to the global level due to objective, though highly contradictory processes of globalization.
RLASSA Coordinators:
Evgeny N. Pashentsev (Russia), DSc., professor, a leading researcher at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation, Director of the International Centre for Social and Political Studies and Consulting.
